Children's Workshop . . . . No Parents Allowed

Since we are cutting back this Christmas,
I decided to try to make each day before Christmas special.
For example
*We took a few days putting up our tree and decorating it, while listening to wonderful Christmas music.

*We went to the kids school for a Christmas party on Thursday night.

*I bought some mixed nuts and we introduced the art of nut cracking to the kids.

*We have been telling the stories of Jesus every night before bed (check out the Friend).

*Tonight we plan on going to the Christmas Devotional together.

*We pulled out some "do-it-yourself" crafty books for the kids to get ideas on some homemade gifts, and that is where the pictures come in. I found this little "workshop" this morning. Supossedly they are making all kinds of gifts for Will and I.
Yesterday Za Za came to me with a picture of a sock puppet that she wanted to make for JR. She found an old sock, and I dug out some buttons. I then let her sew the buttons on, and after a few sore fingers it turned out pretty cute.

I love it! Homemade gifts are the best. I am inspired by my friend Emily who always makes homemade gifts for her kids. This year I hope to do the same. I am dusting off the old sewing machine, and plan to whip out some fun things for the kids.

I still have a lot of ideas for the rest of the month, but can I just say how much less stressed I am about Christmas knowing that I don't have to do so much shopping. Seriously! Why didn't I think of this before. Cutting back the presents and increasing the quality time that we spend together this holiday season. Genius!
