Why would anyone want to join my church?

I've been thinking about why anyone would want to join my church.

In my church we have church callings. That means we are asked to serve in specific duties.  Some of those duties include:
Church callings (serving as a teacher, leader, etc.)
Home and Visiting Teaching (Watching over and serving 3-4 individuals and or families).
Family Home Evenings (a family night -usually Mondays- where we learn, sing, pray, and have fun.)
Temple Work
Welfare
Humanitarian Service
Teaching assignments
We are also asked to:
Watch 10 hours of General Conference twice a year (our prophet speaks to us during that time.)
Attend 3 Hours of meeting on Sundays
Do our Family History (finding our deceased ancestors)
Support Youth Camps
Participate in Devotionals
Have Scripture Study
Attend Leadership Training
Support Youth Activities
Go to early-morning seminary (a class for youth to study the scriptures, kinda like Bible study, but they meet at 5:50 every week day!)
Maintain church buildings (cleaning the church)
Keep the Lord's law of health (no coffee, tea, tobacco, alcohol, etc.)
Fast monthly (go without food and water for two meals)
Pay tithing (10% of income)
Live a virtuous life

None of the members of my church are compensated monetarily for their service.  No one is paid. Not the bishops (pastors), not the leaders, not the prophet.
Nope, not one.

Why would anyone want to join a church that ask so much?

Here are a few reasons.

  • First, my Church was restored in our day by Jesus Christ Himself
  • In my Church you will find the authority to act in His name—to baptize for the remission of sins, to confer the gift of the Holy Ghost, and to seal on earth and in heaven.
  • In my Church you will find the knowledge that God speaks to mankind again
  • In my Church you can receive sacred priesthood ordinances and make covenants with God,
  • In my Church you can enter the holy temple, and sense you are in His presence
  • In my Church you read the holy scriptures and live the teachings of His prophets, bringing you closer to the Savior you love so much.
  • My Church provides opportunities for doing good.
  • My Church helps you put your faith into practice, not just hear about doing good and having faith.
  •  In my church, we see assignments as opportunities to fulfill covenants we gladly make to serve God and his children.
  • Because walking the path of discipleship leads to precious blessings.
  • Because our daily walk with Jesus Christ leads to peace and purpose in this life.
  • Because those who follow this path faithfully avoid many pitfalls, sorrows and regrets of life.
  • Because the poor in spirit and honest of heart find great treasures of knowledge.
  • Because those who suffer or grieve find healing.
  • Because those burdened with sin find forgiveness, liberty, and rest.

I love my church! It truly is Jesus Christ's church. He is in control.  And he has set up his church to assist us to find true and lasting peace and happiness. I have found it in my life. I am so thankful for His love for me.

So come join us! Come see what we are all about.  If you have questions, ask them. If you have doubts, put them aside and find out for yourself if this is right for you.
