Christmas Letter- 2012

January- I (Crystal) decided to stop eating chocolate for the year. (It's almost been 1 year!)
Kenpo-X with Daddy

February- Eliza turned 10. Annie turned 7. We went ice skating in Provo.

March- We spent most of March packing up our home in Orem.  Over conference weekend my Dad and Step-Mom came to haul most of our stuff back to AZ where it would wait for us until we were ready to move it to our new home.
Our last Ryan Shupe & the Rubber Band concert for a while.

April- Dad and CC took us to General Conference with them.
CC and  Jerry Ray
Will graduated from BYU!! We are so proud of you Will!

May- We sold our mobile home in Orem, and said our good byes to family and friends in Utah. We moved to AZ to stay with family for the summer before our big move to the mid-south.

June- The Redneck Games on the Verde (think Olympics Red-neck style):

Toilet Seat Racing
Toilet Carrying Relay

Hammer Throwing
Drive Shaft Tossing

Tug-o-war

Spam Carving
BB shooting

Lip Syncing

We do this every 4 years.  It sure helped us get in the Olympic Spirit!

Will and I took a trip to Memphis to look for housing.  We were incredibly blessed to find a beautiful home to rent in Northern Mississippi!

After our return we spent lots of time with our family in AZ.
Working with Grandpa
Off roading with cousins in the desert.

July- Jaran played Colin in the play "A Secret Garden". Eliza was also in the production as a firefly.

We spent a lot of time with family & friends making sweet memories.

Will turned 35, and also went on a hike to Havasupi.

August- Jaran turned 12.  He received the Aaronic Priesthood, from his father, with both Grandpas standing in the circle.

The very next day we began our 4 day journey to our new home.  Will got sick, we stayed and extra day in Texas, and spent the night in the scariest motel ever in Oklahoma (slept with a loaded gun beside the bed).

New Mexico

Texas

Uncle Larry's dairy farm where we met the real "Hank the Cow Dog".

And we finally made it to our new home.   We also tried out the local schools, and decided they weren't a good fit for our family. We decided to do home-school.
First day of home-school @ the zoo.

Will started his first semester at Southern College of Optometry. I got to brush up on my sign language skills (that I hasn't used for about 12 years) to help interpret for a deaf sister in our ward.  I got called to serve in the Nursery with that sister. Jaran passed the sacrament for the first time.

September- We took lots of trips to the zoo. Will took up residence in our closet (which is bigger than Jaran's old room BTW), to study for his 21 credits that he is taking this semester.  Jaran went camping and almost got eaten alive by mosquitos.  He also got to meet President Beck, the General Young Men's President who visited our area. We went to our first ward activity: Shooting guns in the back woods of rural Mississippi (opening prayer too.) We felt a bit of the aftermath of hurricane Issac and experienced our first tornado warnings.

October- Things finally started to come together for home school. Will received his white coat during a special ceremony.

Since we were studying Egypt, we all went as Egyptians to our ward Halloween party.

Will got called to be the 1st counselor in the Young Mens Program.

November- Will and I celebrated 13 years of marriage!!  Woot Woot!

We had had these choice experiences:
Frog dissection, botanical gardens, egg experiments, and fried plantains.

A friend of Will's from school joined us for Thanksgiving dinner.  Turns out he is my Mom's late husbands' nephew, from Pinedale, AZ.  Small world!

December-
Finals are over and Christmas break is here!!!  We are having the Elders and Sisters (missionaries) over for Christmas.  The weather has been nice, despite it raining ALL THE TIME!  Coming from the drought stricken west, all this rain is strange.  Will and I are reading the Christmas Carol to the kids., and we are enjoying our first December in Mississippi.

This year has been about change and faith.  We are doing our best with what we have; putting our trust in God to guide us along this path he has for us.  Moving so far from everyone that we love and cherish has proven to be harder than expected.  We miss you all so much! But we are also making new friends and feel much love from our new ward family.  We have seen God in all the details of this new adventure we are on.  We know he is aware of us and is taking care of us.  We are so grateful for Him.

Much Love,
The Price Family
Will, Crystal, Jaran, Eliza & Annie
