Mommy & Nani Time

Today after dropping our kids off at school, Will, Nani & I went up on campus. Will had class at 9, then an appointment at 10 that he wanted me to go with him to, and then his last class at 11, so Nani and I decided to spend our morning on campus together. After saying goodbye to Will, we made our way to the Eyring Science Center to check out the dinosaur bones, then I remembered that in the basement of the Widstoe building there were fish tanks.

As we made our way there, and met lots of smiling faces along the way. I love BYU! Anyway we were pleasantly surprised to find 3 tanks with sea creatures. The first had sea anenomes, the second lots of starfish, and the third barnacles. We stood there for a while admiring the creatures when a student walked by and said that he would be feeding the starfish in a few minutes after he defrosted their breakfast. They are only fed a few times a week, so it was a special treat to get to see their feeding. If you look closely at the picture you will see some wooden tongs holding the shrimp right next to the starfishes arm, waiting for it to grab on to its meal.

It was so cool to watch the starfish be fed! The nice student came out to see how the starfish were liking their food. He said he had one last creature to feed. It was a lobster. He asked Nani if she wanted to feed it. She got all excited as we walked back into the lab to feed it. She took the piece of shrimp and plopped it right in his tank without any qualms. He came right over and munched it right up.

After our adventures in the basement of Widstoe, we headed over to the Bookstore to get a bagel and chocolate milk of course. Nani and I sat on a bench and enjoyed our treat, then met up with Will again. She saw him and ran to him with arms outstreched. Those two are so cute together! I have really enjoyed being back on campus again, and especially spending time with my sweet Nani.
